Sunday Comes Every Week, it Seems

Sunday Comes Every Week, it SeemsHere’s one for the lighter side of ministry… be careful though, if you’re involved in church work in any capacity, you may very well see yourself in this clip!

This video was produced by the production team at North Point.  It’s really funny; and really true…

Living By The Law of Love

In America there is a law stating a woman must take care of her child. So, a man comes to a new mother’s home. He says “Are you taking care of your baby? The Law says you have to.” The woman, tenderly holding her baby, said, “I don’t need a law to make me take care of my baby.” Why? Because she loves her baby! She feeds him, holds him, changes him because she loves him. Can I share a little secret… I no longer need the Law to tell me how to live, because I’m under the influence of Christ — living by the law of LOVE.

There was a time when God’s people were commanded to live according to the Law.  In order to fulfill the Law, one had to live out the principles of the Law perfectly.  James 2:10 says, “For whoever keeps the whole law and yet stumbles at just one point is guilty of breaking all of it.”

However, in Matthew 5:17 Jesus stated,

“Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them.”

It is Christ’s intention that the spiritual requirements of God’s law be fulfilled in the lives of His followers.  How is this done?  Through LIVING BY THE LAW OF LOVE.

Jesus summed it up this way:

“‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments” (Matthew 22:37-40).

It all boils down to this… Loving God completely, and Loving people deeply.  There is no higher Law to live by than the Law of Love!

1) I demonstrate my love for God by…

2) I love people…
__ Never    __ Only when I feel like it    __ Even when they don’t deserve it

3) In what relationships do I need God’s help to love unconditionally?

Remember, it was Jesus who said that the world would know that we are His followers by the love that we demonstrate to one another. Make love your highest goal!
